Chief Technology and Architecture Office at Cisco Innovation & Research Lab

Why did Cisco choose to support Paris-Saclay entrepreneurs?

For quite some time, Cisco has been betting on France’s tremendous and increasingly evident potential to emerge as a leading country for digitization. Both the FrenchTech dynamics and the large, successful companies which support the French economy bring huge promises for innovation.

Cisco wanted to support the digitization acceleration in France by engaging with universities, helping start-ups and being part of the VC ecosystem. The Paris-Saclay Seed Fund was the perfect match. We were already experiencing the Paris- Saclay ecosystem’s excellence with our engagement in University Chairs with Ecole Polytechnique and Telecom ParisTech.

To you, what are the most promising innovation trends nowadays?

I’d first like to point out that there are massive opportunities with B2B digital solutions. The market is huge and corporates are open to innovative partners and offers. As for tech specifically, AI is certainly one of the most promising innovation trend, both for pure tech players and service providers like Destygo and Cardiologs. At Cisco, the two other very interesting trends we see are also closely related to AI: cybersecurity and next-generation networking – including IoT. In both cases, industry players will deploy and operate secured digital platforms at unprecedented scale, literally connecting billions of people, devices, data, and process. AI will have to step in!
